Prosecutors Push To Try Teen Accused Of Killing Parents As Adult

The judge heard a recording Wednesday of Balcer talking to police a few hours after the killings.

AUGUSTA, ME— Prosecutors are urging a judge to try a Maine teenager charged with killing his parents as an adult.

Andrew Balcer's defense attorney is expected to argue against trying him as an adult on Thursday. Though he is now 18, the defendant was 17 at the time of his parents' killing.

Officials played a recording Wednesday of the 911 call about the killings made by Andrew Balcer. He's charged with killing Antonio and Alice Balcer last Halloween in Winthrop.

The judge has said he expects to issue a ruling later in writing.

The judge heard the recording Wednesday of Balcer talking to police a few hours after the killings. He told police his mother was hugging him in his bedroom when he stuck a knife into her back. He then attacked his father.
