Aberdeen IronBirds Return Home for Fun-Filled Week of Promotions

The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class 'A' short season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will return home to Leidos Field August 9-14.

Breast Cancer Awareness Night, Orioles Night with O’s Hall of Fame catcher Chris Hoiles, and Star Wards Night Highlight the Jam-Packed Promotional Schedule

Aberdeen, Md. – The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class ‘A’ short season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, return home to Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, August 9 at 7:05 p.m. against the Staten Island Yankees (28-21), followed by a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners (29-21). During the homestand, the IronBirds will feature two themed jersey nights, including Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Advanced Radiology on August 9 benefitting The Red Devils and Star Wars Night on August 13 benefitting the Casey Cares Foundation.

Tuesday, August 9 | 7:05 p.m. vs. Staten Island Yankees

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Advanced Radiology
  • IronBirds players will wear special themed jerseys, which will later be autographed for auction. Proceeds benefit The Red Devils, a Baltimore-based nonprofit providing fund services that improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families.

Wednesday, August 10 | 7:05 p.m. vs. Staten Island Yankees

  • Launch-A-Ball - Fans can buy balls on the concourse and hit targets on the field to win a prize! Balls are $1 each, 6 for $5, or 14 for $10! Prizes announced day of game.
  • House of Ruth Maryland “Man Up” event – House of Ruth Maryland speaking with Harford County influencers in the community, and educate those in attendance on the mission of “Man Up,” and how to foster healthy relationships.

Thursday, August 11 | 7:05 p.m. vs. Staten Island Yankees

  • Orioles Night with Chris Hoiles - Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the '66 World Series. Former O’s catcher Chris Hoiles will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs on the concourse for fans from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. The 1970 World Series trophy will be on display, as well as a special visit from The Orioles Bird.
  • Commemorative Print Giveaway presented by APGFCU - The first 1,200 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative print celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the 1966 Orioles World Series Championship.

Friday, August 12 | 7:05 p.m. vs. Lowell Spinners

  • The best fireworks in Harford County! Show begins shortly after the last out of the game.

Saturday, August 13 | 7:05 p.m. vs. Lowell Spinners

  • Star Wars Night featuring themed jerseys that will be autographed for auction. Proceeds benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that provides ongoing, uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families
  • The best fireworks in Harford County! Show begins shortly after the last out of the game.

Sunday, August 14 | 5:35 p.m. vs. Lowell Spinners

  • Football Night – Appearance by the Baltimore Ravens mascot, Poe. Former Baltimore Raven and Brigance Brigade founder, O.J. Brigance and wife, Chanda, throw our ceremonial first pitch.
  • Post-game Fireworks, following Kids Run the Bases and the premier of “PITCH,” FOX’s new baseball drama about Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury, “Under the Dome”), the first female pitcher in the big leagues. It’s the first television drama produced in association with Major League Baseball.
  • Dollar Dogs presented by Berks – Hot dogs are $1 all night.
  • Sunrun Sundays - Kids have a chance to serve as “Co-pilots” and run on the field with players during the pre-game lineups.

During every home game, the IronBirds wants to honor your hero at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium this season! Fans can nominate their Hometown Hero by visiting the IronBirds Facebook page, where the selected Hero will receive the opportunity to attend a future IronBirds game and walk out with the ’Birds manager on the field to present the starting lineup cards.

Following the New York-Penn League All-Star break, in which outfielder Cole Billingsley and pitcher Alex Wells will represent the IronBirds, the team will return home on August 20 for Wrestling Night presented by PressBox featuring guest appearance by former WWE and current Impact Wrestling star Matt Hardy.
