UPDATE: Harford County Public Schools Announce Monday Decision

Harford County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, officials announced Monday morning.

Here is the official statement from Harford County Public Schools:

HCPS CLOSED today, Monday, February 2, 2015. Afterschool/evening activities are cancelled. Code Blue employees report at 11:00 a.m.

Due to below-freezing temperatures, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday morning alerting people to the fact that untreated surfaces are icy, particularly sidewalks; in addition, weather officials said that fog could limit visibility to one-quarter mile.

Preliminary information provided to the National Weather Service indicate there was ice accumulation of 0.35 inch in north Bel Air Sunday night.

Other Schedule Changes

• Havre de Grace city government will open at 10 a.m. Essential employees should report as scheduled.
• Harford Community College and Towson University of Northeastern Maryland are opening at 10 a.m. Monday.
• Harford County government offices will open at 10 a.m. Monday. Critical employees should report in accordance with policies established by their departments.
• Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C., area are opening two hours late with the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework.

School officials issued the following announcement Sunday night:

“Due to weather conditions, Harford County Public Schools will open TWO HOURS LATE tomorrow, Monday, March 2, 2015 with no morning Pre-K. We will re-evaluate in the morning.”
