Hurricane Dorian: Montgomery County Rescuers Heading Home

Maryland Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team members dispatched to North Carolina to help with hurricane relief efforts are headed home tonight

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND — Members of the Maryland Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team arrived in Raleigh, N.C., Thursday, Sept. 5, to assist with emergency responses due to Hurricane Dorian. Pete Piringer, chief spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service, shared that the team would be headed back to their base in Aberdeen later on Friday night.

According to Piringer, the 80-person task force on MD-TF1 returned home to Montgomery County Friday afternoon after spending time in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas helping out with hurricane relief efforts. Personnel with ties to the communications tower and HazMat equipment support cache remain deployed and will be heading home soon, he tweeted.
