Joan B. Hines, of Aberdeen, passed away on May 14, 2016. She was 75.

Born in Havre de Grace, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Benjamin Blansfield and Elizabeth Mae Burns Blansfield Jacobs. She was the devoted wife of the late John Richard Hines, loving mother of Susan Elizabeth Cobo and her husband, Stephen of Bel Air; Jill Leslie Ruff of Bel Air; Melissa Lynn Blessing of Aberdeen; and Valerie Ann Ryan and her husband John, of Havre de Grace. She was the adored grandmother of Jonathan Cobo, Joshua Cobo, Carly Cobo, Hannah Ruff, Henry Ruff, Abigail Blessing, Benjamin Blessing, Mollie Ryan, Laidan Ryan, Jack Ryan, and Alex Ryan. She was the dear sister of Samuel David Blansfield of Brooklyn, Md., and Jean Elaine Foley of Berlin, Md.

Joan was a registered nurse. She graduated from the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. Her career began at Harford Memorial Hospital in 1961, where she continued to work for 27 years as a nurse and an administrator. While working full time and raising a family, Joan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. She finished her career working for 12 years at the Kennedy Krieger Institute where she received several nominations for the Nurse of the Year Award. She enjoyed swimming and was a member of the Padded Lillies. Her life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending her time attending their sporting events, recitals, and school programs.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Father Kevin Farmer will officiate. Interment will be held at Thomas Run Church Cemetery.
