First $1M Powerball Winner Of 2019 In Maryland

The first $1M Powerball winner of 2019 bought their winning ticket Wednesday, but hasn't claimed it yet. Is it you?

HAGERSTOWN, MD — Check your Powerball tickets from the Wednesday, Feb. 20 drawing —someone in Maryland won $1 million. No one hit the jackpot, which increased to $304 million for the Saturday, Feb. 23 drawing.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dual Highway BP in Hagerstown in Washington County. The winning numbers were 27, 49, 50, 51 and 52; the Power Ball was 2. Maryland Lottery officials said in a news release that the winner should sign the back of the ticket immediately and put it in a safe location. The winner has 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.

This is Maryland’s first $1 million Powerball win of 2019. In 2018, the state had one $1 million winner and in 2017 the state celebrated two $1 million Powerball winners. Maryland is home to two Powerball jackpot wins: $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County).

For selling the winning ticket, Dual Highway BP earns a $2,500 bonus from the Lottery.

There are nine prize levels in Powerball, ranging from $4 to the jackpot, and there were more than 15,400 winning tickets sold across the state for the Feb. 20 drawing, so Lottery officials say it's always a good idea to check your tickets.

Winning numbers are available at mdlottery.com and on your smartphone by downloading the free MD Lottery app. Powerball is offered in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.

Odds of winning the jackpot are about 292 million to 1. Overall odds of winning any prize are about 25 to 1.
