Vehicle Falls Off Forklift, Kills Worker At Recycling Center

It happened on Monday morning in Hagerstown, authorities said. The worker died at the scene.

HAGARSTOWN, MD — A vehicle being moved on a forklift fell off and landed on a worker at a recycling center in Washington County, authorities said. It happened just before 8 a.m. Monday at Conservit, Inc. in Hagerstown, the county sheriff’s office said in a release.

The worker, who was not publicly identified, died at the scene. The incident was deemed an accident, authorities said.

The state Occupational Safety and Health agency responded to the scene. Wind did not appear to have contributed to the accident.

The worker's body will be taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
