3,000-Mile Bike Race Ends In Annapolis, Winners Finish In 11 Days
A cross-country bike race finished in Annapolis. The winners completed the 3,000-mile course in 11 days.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A cross-country bicycle race finished last month in Annapolis. The winners completed the 3,037.8-mile course in less than two weeks.
Canadian Leah Goldstein won the women's division and posted the best time overall. She coasted into Annapolis on June 26. Goldstein conquered the ride in 11 days, three hours and three minutes. That's good for a pace of 11.38 mph.

American Erik Newsholme led the men's group and recorded the second best time in the field. He rolled into the state capital on June 27. That was 11 days, 20 hours and 28 minutes after he started.
Fellow American Michael Davies-Hughes was the only other solo rider to finish. He also cycled into Annapolis on June 27. His 11 days, 22 hours and 16 minutes were good for third place overall and second in the men's category.

The race started in Oceanside, California on June 15. Competitors crossed the Mojave Desert, the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River. After climbing 175,000 feet and trasversing 12 states, riders reached the finish line at City Dock.
Race Across America sponsored the challenge. Several teams competed alongside the individual winners. The full results are listed here.
The competition is also a platform for charitable fundraising. Racers have raised more than $2 million annually over the past five years.
