Look inside Normandie estate of late businessman and car collector Henry Petronis; the home was designed by architect Frank J. Forster.
EASTON, MD — A Talbot County estate designed by a famed architect and housing more than 50 antique cars is now for sale for $6.5 million. Normandie in Easton was the summer home of world-renowned antique car collector, Henry Petronis, who died on Christmas morning in 2017. His family is now selling his 61-acre peninsula as well as his collection of vintage cars.
The property is comprised of a two-bedroom guest/gate house, a 55-plus car auto barn with an office and two bathrooms, a classic outdoor pool, and Bailey built dock with water and electric, according to Realtor.com. The car collection that includes Bentleys and Bugattis will be sold separately
Designed by famed Philadelphia architect Frank J. Forster in 1927, Normandie was the home of Petronis, an auto expert and well-known member of numerous car clubs throughout the country. He was also a boater and restorer of historic homes. A problem solver with a brilliant engineer’s mind, Petronis loved all things mechanical and even created parts for his vintage cars that were no longer made, according to a news release from Long and Foster Real Estate.

Driving down the three-quarter mile, tree-lined driveway, you’ll first notice the property’s well-kept grounds and secluded, park-like setting. A first glimpse of the home resembles a French castle. Its white brick exterior, long expanse and fairy tale-like turrets on each end are set against the backdrop of the Tred Avon River.
Famed Philadelphia architect Frank J. Forster designed the home in 1927. Forster was known for building castle-like homes in old world style. Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany is said to be Forster’s inspiration for Normandie. Forster positioned the home on the peninsula to optimize water views on three sides.
