8 Displaced In Blaze; Fire Truck Involved In Crash: Officials

An Annapolis blaze displaced eight residents and injured a firefighter, officials said. A car collided with a fire truck, the report added.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Officials said an Annapolis house fire displaced eight residents and injured a firefighter on Sunday. One of the responding fire trucks was involved in an accident on the way to the scene, an incident report added. That collision sent two of the car's occupants to the Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries, the write-up continued.

Firefighters noted that the neighbors called them to the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive around 2:14 p.m. First responders reported finding flames coming from the back deck, but they are still investigating the cause.

A team of 41 announced that it extinguished most of the interior and exterior fire within 15 minutes. The group indicated that it controlled the rest of the blaze within another 15 minutes.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department shared that the Annapolis Fire Department and the Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department aided its response. Officials advised that one of the Naval Support Activity firefighters went to the "Anne Arundel Medical Center with a non-traumatic medical complaint."

The press release stated that the Red Cross is helping the six adults, one teenager and one baby who were displaced.

The report explained that an engine from the Annapolis Neck Fire Station had an accident while responding to the call. The collision happed on Hillsmere Drive at Edgemere Drive, the write-up informed. The release detailed that a sedan turned left in front of the fire truck while it was heading the same direction as the engine.

No firefighters were hurt in the wreck, and officials wrote that a reserve truck will replace the out-of-service engine.
