ANNAPOLIS, MD — March 20 marks the start of Annapolis Restaurant Week, and eateries are getting excited. The eight-day event is a welcomed sight for an industry that has been rocked by the coronavirus pandemic.

Establishments are preparing a variety of deals to entice customers. Some places will offer vegan and vegetarian options.

Along with dine-in specials, businesses may also offer carryout, drink and gift card bargains. Restaurateurs hope this range of options will draw customers who want to support local joints but might not be comfortable dining out.

The Downtown Annapolis Partnership, which organized the event, also waived its business participation fee. Instead, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County will chip in for promotions to save eateries some cash. These moves intend to maximize profits in a year when the hospitality industry looks to rebound.

"This year, it’s all about being flexible so as many people as possible can safely enjoy the wide variety of dining options Annapolis has to offer," Erik Evans, executive director of the Downtown Annapolis Partnership, said in a press release.

Prices will fall in the following ranges:

  • Two-course breakfasts: $9.95 to $15.95
  • Two-course lunches: $12.95 to $19.95
  • Three-course dinners: $29.95 to $39.95

Carryout items may have different prices.

Planners encouraged diners to make reservations in advance. Establishments are still capped at 50 percent capacity, and they may fill quickly.

Every table will be limited to six guests. Masks are required until customers are seated at their tables.

"With so many dining options and specials, you will want to enjoy our restaurants every day during Restaurant Week," added Matt Schatzle, chair of the Downtown Annapolis Partnership.

Annapolis Restaurant Week immediately follows Annapolis Oyster Fest, which runs through March 21. The festivity also coincides with the city's Maryland Day celebrations, scheduled for March 19 to March 21.
