Prince George's County Under Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service says Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties may experience flash floods overnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for portions of Maryland, including Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Southern Baltimore counties.

The watch lasts until 2 a.m. Monday.

Tropical moisture will be spreading north along and just east of the Interstate 95 corridor overnight, says the weather service. Widespread rainfall over an inch will be likely in this area. Localized rainfall amounts of two to four inches will be possible in just a few hours.

Annapolis officials said the weather may affect Monday’s Memorial Day parade; no decision has been made yet.

Low lying and poor drainage areas may see rapidly rising water resulting in flooding. In addition, small streams and creeks may overflow their banks.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

The forecast is soggy until Tuesday.

Weather Service Forecast

Sunday night: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Memorial Day: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before midnight. Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
