Bay Bridge To Close Multiple Times This Week For Runners, Repairs
The Bay Bridge will shut down periodically for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maryland and for inspections and repairs.
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Motorists should be aware that the westbound right and center lanes of the Bay Bridge will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, June 5, at approximately 11 a.m. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maryland will be crossing this span of the bridge and it will be shut down to ensure the runners’ safety as they cross.
According to the Maryland Transportation Authority, minimal traffic delays are expected, but motorists are advised to use caution when traveling on the bridge during this time. There also will be lane closures on the bridge this week so that routine annual inspections and preservation/maintenance work can be conducted.
The eastbound span may be closed Monday, June 3, and Tuesday, June 4, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

The westbound span may be closed Wednesday, June 5, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday, June 6, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday, June 7, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.
One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.
