Bay Bridge Westbound Center Lane Remains Open Dec. 3
The MDTA will not close the westbound center lane Dec. 3. Monday night's weather prohibited crews from being able to prep equipment.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The westbound span center lane of the Bay Bridge will not close today, Dec. 3. Crews were unable to prep for Tuesday's closure due to Monday night's unfavorable weather conditions. At this time, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) still plans to close the center lane of the westbound Bay Bridge Dec. 4, through Dec. 6 from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily.
The MDTA will be closing the center lane so that crews can take advantage of the forecasted favorable weather to pour concrete and because overlay sections in this work zone are longer and require an estimated 3.5 hours to pour. The MDTA pointed out that westbound backups could potentially reach three miles, taking an additional 25 to 30 minutes to cross the bridge. Drivers are advised to allocate extra travel time this week. Wide-loads (permit vehicles greater than 10 feet wide) are restricted due to the 11-foot lanes and should adjust westbound travel times.
