Best Places to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Annapolis

Although Annapolis already kicked off St. Patrick's Day festivities with a parade through downtown, there are still many opportunities to celebrate the March 17 holiday.

Maybe you aren't as Irish as St. Patrick himself (who was kidnapped and sent to Ireland as a slave, escaped in 409 and returned to Ireland in 432, believing he had been called upon to spread the word of God) but on March 17, everyone's a little Irish.

Green Beer (or Kool-Aid) Races
Where: Eastport Democratic Club
When: Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. (rain or shine)
Details: Keg toss; beverage relay races for adults and kids; contests for best dressed dog and cutest leprechaun; refreshments will include green beer, corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, oysters and more

Get Shamrocked at The Turtle
Where: The Greene Turtle
When: Saturday starting at 5 p.m., Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
Details: Drink specials, live music, games and "Kegs and Eggs" on Sunday

St. Patrick's Day Eve with the Washington Symphonic Brass
Where: St Anne's Episcopal Church
When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Details: An evening of Celtic music set for a brass ensemble, joined by a bagpiper; green attire encouraged

St. Patty's Day Oyster Fest
Where: The Wild Orchid Cafe
When: Sunday, 11 a.m.
Details: Music, keg beer, gumbo, oysters and more

Green Games 2013
Where: The Whiskey Annapolis
When: Sunday, starting at noon
Details: Happy hour from 2 to 7 p.m.; "lucky" shooters for $2; free corned beef and cabbage; Green Games will include Green Beer Pong Challenge and much more
