UPDATE: FBI, Police Search for Bomb Threats Suspect; Main Street Reopens
A SunTrust Bank and Giant store were closed Saturday after callers demanded money and threatened to blow up a device.

The all-clear has been given in downtown Annapolis as police continue to investigate to bomb threats made Saturday morning that demanded money.
The Annapolis Police Department says similar threats were made against a bank and a Giant grocery store. In each case, the suspect demanded an undisclosed amount of money over the phone and threatened the to detonate an explosive device in the business.
The first call to Annapolis Police was made at 10:45 a.m. demanding money or threatening to active a device at the SunTrust Bank, 152 Main St. Officers found several people locked inside the bank, who police were able to remove without incident. A search of the building by fire and police personnel found no explosive device.

A few minutes later at 10:55 a.m., the police department received a call for a threat at the Giant store, 948 Bay Ridge Road. Again, a demand was made for money with the threat that a device would be activated. Store employees evacuated the building; a search by police and firefighters turned up no explosive device.
“I am happy no one was hurt and no devices were found,” said Annapolis PoliceChief Michael Pristoop. “These threats were an interruption for our community and were a waste of our resources. We will thoroughly investigate these threats with our law enforcement partners.”

A similar call, for the SunTrust Bank on Solomons Island Road, was placed to the Anne Arundel County Police Department a few minutes before the Annapolis Police Department received the call for Main Street.
Main Street reopened around 1:15 p.m. No devices were found and there were no injuries, according to Annapolis Police.
The department says it has been in contact with the FBI about the incidents.
Multiple departments joined in the search for suspects and through buildings, including Maryland Capital Police, Anne Arundel County Police and Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Defense police from the Naval Academy.

A massive police presence responded Saturday afternoon to bomb threats in downtown Annapolis, though no devices have been found.
The Annapolis Police Department reported several threats, according to the Annapolis police Facebook page: “The first threat was at the Suntrust Bank located at 152 Main St. The second is at the Giant supermarket on Bay Ridge Road. We are continuing to investigate the threats and will keep you posted.”
The incidents involved bomb threats and demands, according to NBC Washington.
Main Street reopened around 1:15 p.m. No devices were found and there were no injuries, according to Annapolis Police.
Officers were still on the scene at the Bay Ridge Giant.
Photos on social media showed most of Main Street closed. Several people reported on Twitter that they were on lockdown in bars and restaurants while the investigation and search for possible gunmen are underway.
