Bullet Hits Front Door of County Government Headquarters

Police believe the bullet came from stray shots fired in the area of Clay Street Sunday night.

Stray bullets fired on Sunday damaged the Arundel Center and a nearby vehicle, Annapolis police said.

Annapolis police responded to a report of shots fired at 10 p.m. Sunday near the 200 block of Bertina Neck Way. There were no victims or evidence in the area at that time, according to a police report.

An hour later, officers were alerted to a nearby vehicle that had been damaged by a gun shot. The vehicle was being driven on Clay Street when it was struck, police were told.

At 4 a.m., damage to the front door of the Arundel Center, on Calvert Street, was reported. Police said it was caused by a bullet, and believe it was related to the shots reported earlier.

County Government Spokeswoman Linda West said the door was being repaired.
