City Employee Honored for Remaining Cool in Crisis

A city of Annapolis employee was recognized for his efforts after rushing into action when a 3-year-old collapsed with a seizure at Pip Moyer Recreation Center in 2012.

Leaving ballet class at the recreation center, the girl suddenly had a seizure, and fell unconscious and convulsing on the floor in front of her mother and other children.

Recreation Leader Barry Booth took control of the frightening situation, gathering the children in the back of the classroom and consoling the mother while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, according to a release.

The girl was treated at the hospital and is now okay.

After the incident, the girl's father emailed the Recreation and Parks Director sharing his gratitude for Booth's professional and empathetic response to the situation.

Showing that no good deed goes unrewarded, the City of Annapolis Booth its employee of the year for his efforts at the city's annual party this month.
