Converted Annapolis Fire House Heats Up Market at $1.2M
Take a look inside one of the top homes on the market in Anne Arundel County.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Historic colonial homes come on the market in Anne Arundel County fairly regularly. So if you want a house with vintage feel, but want a different look and have $1.2 million burning a hole in your bank account, why not buy a century-old fire house?
The 113-year-old former fire house in Downtown Annapolis has been renovated in recent years into a modern condo. But you'd never know it on the outside, which still sports two large doors that once swung wide to send horse-drawn fire wagons down the street. Now, you can use one for your garage bay.
The multi-story structure retains its Italianate tower.

The former Water Witch Hook-&-Ladder Firehouse is the oldest standing firehouse in the historic city. The building was constructed in 1913 and it is the second firehouse built on the site, replacing one that was built in 1885, according to Preservation Maryland. The firehouse closed in 1986 and the Water Witch Hook-&-Ladder moved to the newer Annapolis firehouse at 620 Taylor Ave.
Historians say in 1987 the city sold the building to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Recently, the building was renovated into a residential condominium.
