Former USNA Superintendent, 4-Star Admiral Among Recently Deceased

Admiral Kinnaird R. McKee, 84, passed away on December 30, 2013, in Annapolis following an extended illness.

Through his illustrious career, McKee commanded an experimental submarine—the USS X-1, served as immediate staff to the Chief of Naval Operations, and served as superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy from 1975-1978. McKee also played a key role in the planning of naval forces during the Cold War. In 1988, McKee retired from a 41-year career with the  Navy to the Eastern Shore, where he pursued his love of sailing.

Ann (Nan) G. Miley, a resident of Edgewater, died on December 24, 2013 at the age of 89. 

Shirley Estelle Schreiner, 84, a life-long resident of Annapolis, died December 24 of natural causes. 

Mary Ellen Martin Manning, 95, a 32-year resident of Rosemont, PA, died December 20 in Annapolis after a long illness.
