ANNAPOLIS, MD — A Halethorpe man was found guilty Wednesday of vehicular homicide while under the influence and related charges for a collision last year in Linthicum in which a tow truck driver died. Brian Wayne Weatherley, 32, was under the influence of cocaine, methadone and alprazolam at the time of the accident, according to Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams.
Weatherley was convicted in a non-jury bench trial by Circuit Court Judge Ronald Silkworth, Adams said in a press release. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 14.
The victim of the accident, Thomas Flayhart, "was simply trying to do his job when Mr. Weatherley's reckless decision to drive under the influence cost him his life," Adams said in the statement.

He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma center in Baltimore, where he later died.
Weatherley was driving north on Belle Grove Road while under the influence when he approached Flayhart's tow truck, which was parked on the road's shoulder to pick up a disabled vehicle.
Flayhart was standing at the rear of the tow truck on the driver's side as he secured the disabled vehicle to his truck. As Weatherley approached the tow truck, he failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and struck the tow truck driver.
After the accident, Weatherley was treated for minor injuries at MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, the Capital Gazette reported.
