Hospitality Industry Hopes To Bounce Back With Online Hiring Fair
Hospitality leaders want to grow their workforce and welcome visitors back to Anne Arundel County. This marks the return of local travel.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Hospitality leaders are gearing up to welcome travelers back to Anne Arundel County. With no more capacity restrictions, local establishments are preparing for a busy summer. That means they'll need more employees.
Industry leaders and workers will connect this week at a virtual hospitality information session and an online hiring fair. The events are sponsored by Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County as well as Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation.
"Every sector within our industry was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and tourism in every community across the nation has suffered," stated Kristen Pironis, executive director of Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. "We want to do what we can to help ensure our hospitality businesses will have the staffing they need to help drive and reap the benefits of the economic recovery and ensure an exceptional visitor experience."

"Many hospitality businesses are short staffed at this time," added Kirkland Murray, president and CEO of Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation. "The hiring event will give residents an opportunity to return to the job market after an unwanted and unanticipated hiatus."
