Hospitalizations Hit Record Low; Nearly Half Are Fully Vaccinated
Anne Arundel reached record lows with its hospitalization total, ICU count and positivity rate. Nearly half the county is fully vaccinated.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Around 47 percent of Anne Arundel County residents are fully inoculated. About 55 percent have gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

In other news, the coronavirus case rate is at its best clip since March 2020. The hospitalization count is at its lowest mark ever. Plus, the percent positivity is at a record low.
Last week's 54 cases are down 89 from the week prior. This was the first time the county tallied less than 100 new infections in a week since March 2020.

This is also the fifth straight week that Anne Arundel posted less than 500 cases in a seven-day span. Before this stretch, the county hadn't accomplished the feat since the week before Halloween. A 2.5-month spike followed the holiday.
That surge ended in January. The county has since recorded less than 1,000 new cases for 16 straight weeks.

The virus also killed five county residents last week, which is 24 fewer than the seven days prior, the Maryland Department of Health said. This number is inflated because health officials two weeks ago reviewed several likely coronavirus deaths and determined that the disease was what truly took these lives. Here's a look at where the numbers stand in Anne Arundel County.
Full Vaccinations
- Currently: 47.01 percent
- Trend: Up by 2.18 percentage points
- Rank: 8th out of the state's 24 jurisdictions
- Trend: Improved by 3 three slots
- Comments: New full immunizations slowed down for the second straight week and fell short of the record high. New full inoculations have declined in six of the past eight weeks.

At Least One Dose
- Currently: 54.71 percent
- Trend: Up by 0.86 percentage points
This is the percentage of residents who have gotten at least one dose of the inoculation. The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines both require two shots. The Johnson & Johnson immunization only has one injection.
Coronavirus Case Rate
- Currently: 1.55
- Trend: Down by 1.48
- Comments: New cases declined for the eighth straight week. Before that, infections climbed for seven consecutive weeks. This is the lowest clip since March 27, 2020.
- Recent High: 24.74 on April 14
- Recent Low: 1.55 on June 6
- Overall High: 64.99 on Jan. 12
- Overall Low: 0.47 on March 23, 2020
Hospitalizations
- Currently: 13
- Trend: Down by 9
- Comments: Hospitalizations dropped for the eighth straight week. They have dipped by 73 in this span. This is the lowest mark the county has ever seen during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Recent High: 99 on April 13
- Recent Low: 13 on June 6
- Overall High: 172 on April 21, 2020
- Overall Low: 13 on June 6
ICU Hospitalizations
- Currently: 2
- Trend: Down by 3
- Comments: ICU hospitalizations declined for the second straight week. They have dropped in four of the last five weeks. This is the lowest count Anne Arundel has ever seen during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Recent High: 43 on Jan. 14
- Recent Low: 2 on June 6
- Overall High: 49 on May 13, 2020
- Overall Low: 2 on June 6
Positivity Rate
- Currently: 1.41 percent
- Trend: Down by 0.35 percentage points
- Comments: The positivity rate declined for the eighth straight week. It was on a six-week hike before that. This is the lowest percent positivity the county has ever had.
- Recent High: 7.47 percent on April 8
- Recent Low: 1.41 percent on June 6
- Overall High: 28.16 percent on April 16, 2020
- Overall Low: 1.41 percent on June 6
Total Cases And Deaths
Anne Arundel County's 43,841 coronavirus infections are the fifth most in the state. The virus is blamed for the death of 636 county residents.
