ANNAPOLIS, MD — Lawrence Joseph Hogan Sr., 88, of Frederick, MD, died on April 20, 2017, at Anne Arundel Medical Center following a stroke. Born in Boston, MA, to the late Alexander and Josephine Hogan, Larry spent his life serving in many capacities. An attorney and teacher, he was also a business executive, a former U.S. Congressman, Prince George's County Executive and served his country as Commander in the US Naval Reserves.

Larry is survived by his wife Ilona Modly Hogan, his sons: Governor Lawrence Joseph Hogan, Jr., his wife, First Lady Yumi Hogan and their daughters; Jaymi Sterling, husband Ben and son Cam; Kim Velez, husband Louis and daughter Daniella; Julie Kim Kim and husband Tae Soo; Matthew Lawrence Hogan and wife Maria Gabriella; Michael Alexander Hogan and fiance Amie Zawacki and his children, Talon and Yarrow; former Delegate Patrick Nicholas Hogan, wife Priscilla and daughters Julia, Emma and Annabel Hogan; Timothy Stefan Hogan and wife Kristin.

He is also survived by his son-in-law William Robert Lazarus and children; Becky Blackburn, husband Ray and children, Jake, Macy and Ella Rae; Keith Lazarus, wife Jennifer and children Owen, Evan and Maddy; Kevin Lazarus, wife Scarlett and sons Zeke and Kane.

Congressman Hogan was pre-deceased by his only daughter, Mary Theresa Lazarus, and his former wife, Nora Maguire Hogan.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD on Saturday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private in the City of Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Relief Services, Donor Services, 228 W. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 or Catholic Charities of Baltimore.
