LGBTQ+ Policy Passed, Affirms Transgender AACPS Students: Report
The Anne Arundel school board passed an LGBTQ+ policy that affirms the identities of transgender students, Capital Gazette reported.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Anne Arundel County Board of Education passed a policy on June 16 to affirm the identities of LGBTQ+ students, Capital Gazette reported. Journalist Rachael Pacella wrote that the new rule codifies and strengthens existing guidelines. She noted that Anne Arundel County Public Schools students now have the official rights to:
- Be called by a name and pronoun that matches their gender identity
- Use bathrooms and locker rooms matching the gender identity they consistently identify with
The reporter mentioned that the policy passed by a vote of 6 to 1 with a single abstention.
