Library Changes Service As Anne Arundel Coronavirus Cases Spike

The fall surge in coronavirus cases forced the Anne Arundel County Public Library to alter its offerings. Here are the changes.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Anne Arundel County Public Library suspended all in-person service until Jan. 18. The move took effect Tuesday and comes as the coronavirus pandemic continues to worsen in the county.

"With COVID-19 cases escalating in our county at an alarming rate, we believe it is in the best interest of our staff and customers to limit indoor service," library CEO Skip Auld said in a press release.

Contactless curbside pickup is available at all branches during these hours:

Monday through Thursday

  • 10 a.m. to noon
  • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday

  • 10 a.m. to noon
  • 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Curbside pickup also runs on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is available at these locations:

  • Busch Annapolis
  • Crofton
  • Discoveries
  • Glen Burnie
  • Maryland City at Russett
  • Odenton
  • Severn
  • Severna Park

"While we are saddened to temporarily reduce access to the library, we remain committed to our community and are proud to offer robust curbside and remote services," Auld added.

The library system will still offer these services:

Customers can visit the system's website, call a branch helpline or email a librarian for help.

"At the end of the day, the health and safety of our customers and staff is our top priority," Auld noted.
