Man Proposes With Flash Mob Of Dancers In Downtown Annapolis

A Maryland man proposed to his girlfriend with a dancing flash mob in Annapolis. The video might make you cry.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Proposals are always sweet, but sometimes they are extra romantic. One Maryland man put in the extra mile for his proposal earlier this month.

Josh Buckler, of Huntingtown, organized a dancing flash mob to propose to his girlfriend, Nicole Asaban. The couple was strolling around Downtown Annapolis near the Alex Haley statue when a seemingly-random man broke into dance set to "Higher Love" by Kygo and Whitney Houston.

More dancers joined in, and Asaban's smile started to grow. Eventually, the 15 dancers faced the lovebirds as the music faded into "Bones" by Galantis.

The flash mob pulled Buckler into the production when "I Found You" by Cash Cash and Andy Grammer was about to drop. Buckler spun in unison with the dancers, and the high-energy music quieted into a soft love song: "Rhythm in My Soul" by Jonny Craig.

Buckler got down on one knee and asked Asaban to marry him. She excitedly said yes. The couple's loved ones then emerged from the crowd to greet them with hugs and congratulations.

"She’s something special, and someone a little 'extra'," Buckler wrote on Facebook last Thursday. "So I went far out of my comfort zone and gave her the most extra memory I could come up with. A FLASH MOB!"

Buckler, who is a Prince George's County firefighter, said Asaban is his best friend. The Calvert County man also owns a Maryland business called Shine Right Detailing.

"I learn from her everyday, as we grow together," Buckler said. "This day, I learned I need to practice my dance skills for more than an hour before showtime."

Asaban shared her ring with Facebook on Sept. 13, announcing their engagement.

"There’s no one I rather spend my life with; adventuring, laughing, evaluating old bay wings, and sipping our Starbucks," Asaban posted. "I am the luckiest girl in the world."
