CROWNSVILLE, MD — Matthew Thomas McHale, 25, of Crownsville, MD, passed away accidentally on November 6, doing what he loved to do, working on boats.

Born on May 23, 1991 in Annapolis to Michael McHale and Aleta Ball, Matthew attended Anne Arundel County elementary schools and graduated from Arundel High School in 2009. He went on to graduate from the Community College of Baltimore County in 2013. Growing up, Matthew loved anything and everything that had to do with motors, from lawnmowers to dirt bikes, cars and, most recently, boats. He was a Maryland boy who loved playing his guitar, his Irish heritage, cars, getting his hands dirty, good beer and his boat.

Matthew is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brian and Aleta Ball of Crownsville; his father, Michael McHale of Bowie; his older brother, Ryan of Kansas City, MO, and his younger brother, Peter of Crownsville, and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Norris of Haleyville, AL. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins, the Bells of Sea Cliff, NY, the Riesmeyers of New Mexico and Georgia and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at Christ Reformed Evangelical Church, 1841 Generals Hwy. in Annapolis, at 6 pm. A reception celebrating Matthew’s life will be held for family and friends following the service.
