Naval Academy Head Coach Niumatalolo To Speak About Faith Aug. 11

ANNAPOLIS, MD — As the U.S. Naval Academy's head football coach with the most wins ever, Ken Niumatalolo has been blessed to appear with his team in bowl games, on a visit the White House and earn an array of coaching honors. With all of these accolades comes credit, and Niumatalolo has always given the glory to God.

Niumatalolo has never shied away from sharing his faith with others. He will be speaking Sunday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1875 Ritchie Highway, in Annapolis. The public is welcome to attend and listen to him share his life story, his faith journey and how his faith has shaped him as a coach, father, husband and church leader.

Niumatalolo recently spoke with Church News, the official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, about his faith. The coach was born in American Samoa where his father was stationed while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He grew up in Hawaii, played football and basketball in high school, and earned an athletic scholarship to play college football at the University of Hawaii where he was quarterback.

The star football player began coaching while as a graduate assistant at the University of Hawaii, eventually working his way to becoming the head coach at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2007. Niumatalolo shared with Church News that he regularly prays for coaching direction, recruiting athletes and interacting with his players and staff.

“The Lord knows everything. I just have to follow," he said.
