Navy Vs. Notre Dame Football Game Back In The U.S., Not Ireland
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the game originally scheduled to be played in Ireland will now be played in Annapolis this fall.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Navy and Notre Dame were set to square off in Dublin, Ireland, this fall to kick off the 2020 college football season. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Aug. 29 game has been moved overseas to Annapolis where it will be played at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Instead of being played in Week 0, the game likely will be played in Week 1 on Sept. 5 or Sept. 6, CBS News reports. The game would have been the third time that the two rivals faced each other on the gridiron in Ireland. The Fighting Irish toppled the Midshipmen 50-10 to kickstart the 2012 season and won 54-26 in 1996. This will be the first time the teams will play against each other in Annapolis and the first time they will play in Maryland since 2014.
