Police Officer Stole $3,600 Worth Of Walmart Items: Report

An Annapolis police officer is accused of stealing more than $3,600 worth of merchandise from an Arbutus Walmart, a report said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An officer from the Annapolis Police Department faces charges of stealing more than $3,600 worth of merchandise from an Arbutus Walmart, the Capital Gazette reported. Journalist Lilly Price identified the accused officer as Gerrard Lamont Williams Jr. He has worked as a security guard at the store since 2014, the news outlet explained.

The Baltimore County Police Department arrested Williams on May 5, the Capital noted. Price added that Williams is up against one count of felony theft scheme on accusations that in February and March he stole:

  • 55-inch TVs
  • Diapers
  • A children’s movie
  • Dog food
  • Soda
  • Printers
  • A Roomba vacuum
  • Clothes
  • Medicine
  • Two AC units

This is the second recent scandal involving Annapolis police. A panel recommended earlier this spring that another officer should be suspended in an unrelated case. The department alleged that somebody stole that officer's handgun and radio from his truck.
