Prepare For Flash Floods In Anne Arundel, Prince George's: Report
High humidity could bring thunderstorms and flash flooding to Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties on Thursday.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — With late summer humidity in full swing, more thunderstorms and flooding could hit Maryland on Thursday. The National Weather Service issued a flash flooding watch for Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert counties. The weather alert starts at 2 a.m. Thursday and lasts until the afternoon.
Forecasters expect the moisture in the air to bring "numerous showers and a few thunderstorms" to the area. Rainfall may start after midnight and continue until the morning. Weather officials expect 1 to 2 inches of rain, though totals could be higher in isolated areas.
The National Weather Service warns that heavy downpours can cause rapid rises in creeks and streams. Urban areas and towns with poor draining may also see water build up quickly.
