Sailboat Engulfed By Flames In Eastport: Annapolis Fire

Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked a fire early Monday that caused heavy damage to a 25-foot sailboat in Eastport.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked a fire that caused heavy damage to a 25-foot sailboat in the 700 block of Second Avenue in Eastport.

The Annapolis Fire Department was called to the blaze at 1:11 a.m. Monday. Crews found the boat completely engulfed in flames, but were able to quickly knock the fire down. A news release from fire officials said it took more than an hour to completely control the fire because of the challenges of the sailboat on the water.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported, the department said.
