This year's graduates of Anne Arundel's public high schools scored 30 points higher on the SATs, says county public schools system.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — This year's graduates of Anne Arundel County's high schools scored 30 points higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) than students who graduated in 2017, the county's public school system announced Thursday.
The composite score for Anne Arundel students was 1,101 points, 35 points higher than public school students across Maryland, according to data released by the College Board, which compiles scores on the SAT. Colleges and universities use each student's test score to determine whether he or she is prepared to handle higher-education courses.
Members of the Class of 2018 took the SATs last year, when they were juniors. The Anne Arundel County Public Schools are administering the PSAT and SAT this year, free of charge, for all high school juniors.
