Search Resumes On Severn River For Missing Kayaker: Report

Police have identified the man who fell out of a kayak Wednesday on the Severn River and disappeared.

ARNOLD, MD — The Maryland Natural Resources Police resumed searching the Severn River on Thursday morning for an Annapolis man who went missing Wednesday after falling out of a kayak. The police identified the man as Jose Loza Ramirez, 21, who was not wearing a life jacket when he fell into the water, according to authorities.

Ramirez and another unidentified man, a fellow construction worker, went out on Wednesday afternoon in the kayak near Chase Creek to secure a company dinghy that had broken loose in heavy winds, the Capital Gazette reported.

They both fell out of the kayak, and the unidentified worker washed ashore on Chase Creek. He was treated Wednesday at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
