A Southwest Airlines plane en route from BWI Airport to Puerto Rico was hit by lightning, aviation officials said.

HANOVER, MD — A Southwest Airlines flight from Baltimore was diverted to Orlando, Florida, on Monday after it was struck by lightning, federal officials said. Flight 2133 from Baltimore-Washington International Airport was en route to San Juan, Puerto Rico, when the plane was hit.
Southwest and Federal Aviation Administration officials told news outlets the plane landed safely in Orlando, as a precautionary measure, the Associated Press reports.
The plane was taken out of service for an inspection and passengers continued to their destination on a different plane. There were no reports of injuries among the 168 passengers and six Southwest crew members, WJZ said.
