ANNAPOLIS, MD — Motorists should note that the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will close the center lane of the westbound Bay Bridge starting Dec. 3 through Dec. 6 from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily. The MDTA will be closing the center lane so that crews can take advantage of the favorable weather this week to pour concrete and because overlay sections in this work zone are longer and require an estimated 3.5 hours to pour.

The MDTA pointed out that westbound backups could potentially reach three miles, taking an additional 25 to 30 minutes to cross the bridge. Drivers are advised to allocate extra travel time this week. Wide-loads (permit vehicles greater than 10 feet wide) are restricted due to the 11-foot lanes and should adjust westbound travel times.
