Fresh off their win at the Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament in November, ASA Premier 99 arrived in Lancaster Pennsylvania in December to compete in the PA Classics Winter College Showcase tournament with one thing on their mind…continuing playing great soccer. They accomplished that with flying colors on their way to back to back tournament championships.
The ASA team outscored their opponents 12 – 1 throughout the tournament with Harleigh White, Calle Garneau and Caitie Milley leading the way in scoring with four, three and two goals respectively. Alishia Holcombe, Katie Hoffman and Grace Palmieri each added a goal while an outstanding defensive line of Madison Pisone, Angela Puhl, Ashtyn Bethel and Maddie Jenner along with Goal Keeper Maddie Wheeler allowed zero goals from the field. The only goal allowed was on a PK in the closing minutes of a game that was well under control. Aubrie Zepp, Sarah Dewitt, Beyza Yazici, Megan Baker and Tessa Quade each contributed with hard aggressive play and tough defense.
ASA Premier Coach Bob Thomas said after the tournament “this team put it all together this weekend across many games against good opponents…they dominated in every facet of the game, and if we continue to play this style of soccer, we will be hard to beat…there was zero drop off from the bench, with every player stepping their game up and I am proud of each of them”.
ASA Premier 99 next takes the field in the Manhattan Kick-Off Classic tournament held in New York February 27 – March 1, 2015.
