Fight Leads to Stabbings in Crownsville

Police arrested a Millersville man after a fight early Sunday.

Anne Arundel Count police charged a Millersville man in a fight and stabbing that sent both the assailant and the victim to the hospital.

Shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to a residence on the 700 block of Whitneys Landing Drive, in Crownsville, for a reported stabbing.

Police said an initial investigation shows the suspect and a 20-year-old man were arguing outside of the residence, and the suspect eventually pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in a lower extremity.

During the struggle, the suspect also suffered a minor laceration, according to police.

Both the suspect and victim were transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening stab wounds. After the suspect was released, officers placed him under arrest.

Police charged Eric Christopher Halstad, 18, with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and wielding a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure.
