First Baby Born in 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center

On New Year's Day, Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis announced that a boy was the first baby delivered in 2013.

Joseph Mason Bray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bray of Stevensville, was delivered at 12:39 a.m. on Tuesday, according to an announcement from AAMC.

The first baby delivered at AAMC in 2012 was also a boy.

Here is additional information provided by AAMC:

·         AAMC is the second largest birthing facility in the state of Maryland with more than 5,300 babies born here in the last year.

·         On average, 15 babies are delivered daily at AAMC. More than 10,000 women and their children received care here last year.

·         AAMC provided a Lil’ Lamb Shop gift package to the first baby, which included swaddling blankets, stuffed animals, books, bathing supplies and a $50 gift card to the boutique (Lil’ Lamb is located at 167Q Jennifer Road in Annapolis).   

·         The hospital is designated with a Level III standing for obstetric and neonatal care. This designation by the Maryland Department of Health is reserved for hospitals that offer the highest degree of quality care for high-risk moms and high-risk newborns.

·         The NICU is part of the hospital’s Rebecca M. Clatanoff Pavilion at the Medical Park campus, a comprehensive program providing top-level maternity and neonatal care. The 86-bed pavilion is home to all of AAMC’s birth services, including a state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit, mother/baby unit, and lactation services.
