Free Summer Meals Program Expands in Anne Arundel

Kids between 2 and 18 can get free breakfast and lunch at 15 locations throughout Anne Arundel County this summer, beginning on June 24.

Kids in Anne Arundel County will get approximately 70,000 free meals this summer, as the school system expands "Food That’s In When School Is Out" meal program.

Some of the locations will be restricted to kids in specific programs, but several will be open to the public, for anyone between 2 and 18 years of age, according to an AACPS press release. Children are not required to register, and there are no income requirements.

"The impact that we've seen by providing summer meals has truly been worth the extra effort it takes to ensure the proper staffing and logistics necessary to pull off the program," said Jodi Risse, supervisor of food and nutrition services for AACPS, in a statement. "We essentially have an all-encompassing school meals program that addresses wellness and hunger."
