Man Shot 6 Times During Robbery in Annapolis, Police Say

A man was shot Monday night while trying to fight off two robbers, according to police.

A man was shot and robbed in Annapolis late Monday night, surviving multiple gunshots from a rifle, police said.

The 32-year-old man from Harwood was walking across a foot bridge on Silopanna Road at about 10 p.m. Monday when he was approached by two men, one of whom pointed a "long assault type rifle" at him and demanded his belongings, according to Annapolis police. The other man reportedly had a knife.

The victim told police he began fighting the man with the knife, and was shot in the arm. Everyone scattered from the scene at the point, according to the police report.

The man was transported to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was treated for six gunshot wounds—none of which police said appeared to be life-threatening. The man was shot once in the elbow, three times in the right thigh and twice in the left thigh, according to police.
