Police Identify Shooter, Victim in Glen Burnie Murder-Suicide

No motive has been established for the shooting, police said.

Anne Arundel County police are still piecing together information in a murder-suicide in Glen Burnie on Monday.

Police have identified the shooter as Michael Allen Nelson, 51, and the victim as Thomas Alan Goat, 52. Both men were found dead in their home on Wendover Road, where they are believed to have been involved in a domestic relationship.

Anne Arundel County police arrived at the home at 5 p.m. Monday after a report of shots fired. Inside, they found the two men dead from gunshot wounds.

No motive has been established for the shooting, police said.

Nelson had a court date set for Feb. 19 after being charged with first- and second-degree assault, and felony use of a firearm, according to online court records. The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 19 on Wendover Road, when a woman told police that Nelson had approached her parked car and pointed a gun at her, telling her to leave the area, according to a police report.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact Detective Vince Carbonaro at 410-222-3453.
