Police: Man Uses Craigslist to Sell Stolen Shingles
Anne Arundel County police said the man posed as a local roofing company to purchase shingles then resold them through Craigslist.

Anne Arundel County police have charged an Orchard Beach man with felony theft and identity fraud after he bought shingles with a local roofing company's account and then resold the shingles through Craigslist, according to a department press release.
On July 25, police were informed of a man who was purchasing a large amount of roof shingles from a supply company in Baltimore, posing as a roofing and siding company from Anne Arundel County, police said.
The roofing company confirmed the order was fraudulent, and police found the man would post the shingles for sale on Craigslist.
Officers posing as potential buyers contacted the man through the online offer, and arranged to buy the shingles for $3,800 when they were delivered.
Police contacted the supply company and told them undercover detectives would conduct surveillance as the shingles were delivered to 1000 Hilltop Rd. in Pasadena.
According to police, the man then contacted the undercover officer posing as a buyer and said the shingles were ready to be picked up. The undercover detectives arrived at 1000 Hilltop Rd. and viewed the shingles, along with other roofing supplies the man was selling, and paid the man for the materials.
After the transaction was made, additional officers responded and arrested the man.
Police charged Lloyd K. Butts, 49, with felony theft and identity fraud.
