Upper Marlboro Man Charged in Armed Robbery Spree

Detectives say the suspect targeted fast-food restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations.

County police have charged a man with 35 counts in four armed robberies throughout northern Anne Arundel County in November.

Edmond Jarrod Riggs, 35, of Upper Marlboro, was charged with armed robbery, assault, handgun violations and theft.

Police identified Riggs as a suspect in the armed robberies of businesses in Glen Burnie, Millersville and Severn in November—including three on the same night, according to a police report.

On Nov. 10, a man entered the Pizza Bolis in the 300 block of Crain Highway, drew a handgun and demanded money be put into a shopping bag, police said.

Less than two hours later, a man with a similar description pulled off the same kind of robbery at a Wings 'n Things on Quarterfield Road, about 2 miles away from the first incident. An hour later at the Food Lion on Crain Highway, an armed man demanded cash to be placed into a bag, but was unsuccessful, police said.

Five days after the robbery spree, at a BP Gas Station in Millersville, a man matching the description of the suspect entered the business, showed a handgun and demanded money to be placed into a bag.

Riggs faces a criminal jury trial scheduled for March 18, according to online court records.
