Arbutus 4th Of July 2018: Parade, Derby, Fire Cracker 10K
The Fire Cracker 10K kicks off the Fourth of July in Arbutus, followed by the Soap Box Derby, flag raising and parade.
ARBUTUS, MD — The Fourth of July is here, and that means it's parade time in Arbutus. Here's what is coming up around Arbutus this year for Independence Day.
The Arbutus Recreation and Parks Council coordinates the festivities, which take months to plan.
Here is the lineup for Wednesday, July 4:

- 8 a.m. Fire Cracker 10K Race at Arbutus Middle School back parking lot, 5525 Shelbourne Road
- 9 a.m. Soap Box Derby Races at Elm Road at Oakland Road
- 10:30 a.m. Flag Raising Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Arbutus
- 12:30 p.m. Fourth of July Parade in downtown Arbutus
- 2 p.m. Community Gathering at Arbutus Town Hall, 1349 Stevens Avenue
Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherforth will be among those marching in the parade.
Town Hall will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, with food for sale.
