A Harford County resident accidentally bought the wrong ticket but luckily won $50K off that purchase, lottery officials say.
EDGEWOOD, MD ? A Harford County man who accidentally bought the wrong scratch-off ticket and ended up winning $50,000.
?I stopped at a lottery store on my way to work, like I do every day,? the landscaper told Maryland Lottery officials. ?Gas, if the truck needs it, coffee and a scratch ticket ? that?s my morning routine. I was staring at my ticket but, for some reason, hit the Monopoly button.?
The Edgewood man thought he originally won $1,000, then a second glance revealed he'd actually won $50,000.

"When I saw the $50,000, everything got very still. I didn?t move, just stared at the ticket for a long time. I stopped breathing, I think," the Maryland man said.
The landscaper plans to use his winnings to pay off his truck then put the rest into savings. The Wawa store at 601 Hoagie Drive received a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize winner.
