Bel Air Coach Honored For 300 Wins And 25 Years

Coach "Larry" Tsomos was surprised with a celebration for his leadership of the Bel Air High School boys volleyball team.

BEL AIR, MD — A coach at Bel Air High School was surprised with a special tribute celebration this week. Coach"Larry" Tsomos was celebrated for 25 years of coaching boys volleyball at Bel Air. Last fall, he led the team to a milestone 300th win as well.

During the 2019 season, his team won both county championships and county tournament championships. Since his coaching career began at Bel Air High School in 1995, he has led teams to a total of seven county championships and eight county tournament championships.

Fellow coaches at Bel Air High School organized the tribute event for Tsomos.

At the surprise celebration Wednesday, players he had coached over the years and their families shared videos, pictures and notes to honor Tsomos. Nearly 100 people turned out for the event, including former players and coaches, organizers said; some traveled from out of state to attend.
