Bel Air Police Department Drive Renamed Zack Miller Way To Honor Officer
Officials have approved renaming Bel Air Police Department Drive to become Zack Miller Way in honor of Miller who died Feb. 28.

BEL AIR, MD ? Officials have approved the renaming of Bel Air Police Department Drive ? the access road from Lee Way to the police department parking lot ? as Zack Miller Way in honor of Bel Air Senior Officer Zachary "Zack" R. Miller who died suddenly Feb. 28 after 43 years of service with the police department.
?Whenever we had a bad day, he was always positive, he was witty and it?s incredibly difficult for all of us that he?s not there for us when we need him,? Bel Air Police Chief Charles Moore said.
Miller served as the department?s training coordinator, quartermaster and range master for all firearms. At the board of town commissioners' June 3 meeting, Moore called how Miller's officer training came through when Bel Air police responded to a shooting at the Harford Mall June 2.

?Being precise, the training that he ensured that we had, got us through things like that [incident], and it?s going to help us for a long time,? Moore said. ?His legacy will be here for a long time for us.?
A blue street sign with white lettering was unveiled during that same meeting, drawing applause from Miller?s family, friends and police and public safety colleagues in the audience. Police and Department of Public Works staff then installed the sign at the parking lot entrance Tuesday.
