"Buses arrived at school on time, bringing some excited - and some nervous - children who were met with applause, high-fives and good wishes for the coming year," Cassilly said.

To head off a bus driver shortage, Cassilly and his administration spent the summer working with the school system and private bus contractors to find solutions, including hosting a bus driver job fair to fill vacancies, he said.
